The Mug Issue is operated by IKH Bureau, which is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. This policy explains what we collect when you visit www.themugissue.com or place an order, why we collect it, and the rights you have.
Information we collect
- Contact and order details: your name, email address, phone number, billing address, shipping address and the items you order.
- Personalization content: names, text and photos you upload or enter for a personalized mug.
- Payment information: payments are processed by our payment providers. We receive confirmation of payment and limited transaction details, but we do not store full card numbers.
- Communication: messages you send us by email or through the website.
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed and how you move through the site, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

Who we share your information with
We share personal information only where needed to run the store:
- Shopify, which hosts our store and processes orders and payments. See the Shopify Privacy Policy.
- Printify and its print partners, who print, pack and ship your order. They receive your name, shipping address, order contents and any personalization content. See the Printify Privacy Policy.
- Shipping carriers, who deliver your package.
- Payment providers, who process your payment.
- Authorities, where the law requires us to disclose information.
We do not sell your personal information.
International transfers
We are based in the Netherlands, and our orders are produced and shipped in the United States. Your information is therefore processed in both countries, and in other countries where our service providers operate. Where personal information is transferred out of the European Economic Area, we rely on recognized safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep your information
We keep order and invoice records for seven years, as Dutch tax law requires. Personalization files and customer service messages are kept only as long as needed to complete your order and handle any follow-up. Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe.
Cookies
Our store uses cookies that are necessary for the site and the checkout to work, and cookies that help us understand how the store is used. Where the law requires consent for non-essential cookies, we ask for it through the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Have incorrect information corrected
- Have your information deleted
- Receive your information in a portable format
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent you have given
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising, where that right applies
To use any of these rights, email ibtissamkhann@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before we act on your request. We answer within the time the applicable law requires, and we never treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Children
Our store is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices or the law change. The latest version is always published on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
